Now that my kids are older and more mobile, I’ve found that that the once annoying door chime of my Best Home Security alarm system is a great way to keep track of them. My oldest, now 8, thinks it’s sometimes fun to play hide and seek with mom without giving her a heads up that the game has started. He’s very creative in finding hiding places and as small as he is I am still amazed at the nooks and crannies he can fit in to. The first few times he pulled this stunt and I couldn’t find him within a few minutes I was frantic. Then it happened one day when my mother-in-law was visiting. I voiced my worst fears to her—that he had managed to sneak outside. She pointed out to me that she had seen him when she arrived and since then she had not heard the door chime. Aha! There was no way he could have gotten outside without us hearing it so my deepest fears were unwarranted. What a relief!
